Overview
Position Summary: The Nurse Manager provides leadership for a team of nurses. This includes establishing a professional relationship, helping to resolve clinical and administrative issues as they arise, giving feedback on performance and facilitating an atmosphere in which excellence in client care is provided. Duties and Responsibilities: • Coach and mentor nursing staff at site and ensure accuracy and quality of care provided • Conduct performance reviews and performance conversations with direct reports. Assist in the creation of appropriate development plans for staff as needed • Partners with site director in hiring nurse staff for residential facility • Ensures proper training of all new nurses • Collaborates with Director of Nursing in implementation of new policies and procedures for the program and site need • Collaborates with the Administrative Coordinator and Site Director on day- to- day nursing staffing issues and unfilled shifts and site needs • Provides care management patients in special programs or facilities and performs follow-ups including returning phone calls, processing lab result, and maintain paperwork • Provides client care, assesses and treats health concerns appropriately • Provides support, education, and care for the treatment of health concern to clients • Assists medical and psychiatric providers with information regarding examinations, tests, procedures, and care • Administer medication under the direction of provider as well as provide education to clients. Monitor for side effects and efficacy in collaboration with provider • Performs warranted assessments of patient health • Provides care coordination between patient and the physician, staff, family and outside care agencies as needed • Serves as a medical resource for staff • Participates in case management as part of the client treatment team • Provides behavioral support and crisis prevention and management • Participate actively in milieu management including involvement in groups, outings and mealtimes • Leads nurse staff meetings • Weekend rotation on call duties Qualifications: • Graduate of an accredited course of study in nursing required • Licensed as an RN in the state of employment • 3+ years of experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred • Must have valid driver’s license in the state of employment • Current Basic Life Support certification required (American Heart Association) within 30 days from date of hire • Qualified in Minnesota as a Mental Health Practitioner required Competencies: • Ability to recognize and prioritize the needs of the Emily program over any individual or department • Effectively utilize data and fact based information to make decisions and ensure quality (e.g. KPI) • Demonstrates commitment to clinical, operational, and fiscal responsibilities • Ensures clinically competent care is provided by effectively managing site/department/staff through education, role modeling, teambuilding, clinical documentation and quality monitoring • Uses leadership, team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to build partnerships within and across system
Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) in Minnesota (MN)
- Are you qualified as a Mental Health Practitioner in the State of Minnesota?
- Supervisory (3+ years)
- Valid Regular Driver License (DL) in Minnesota (MN)
- Valid American Red Cross Basic Life Support (ARC BLS)
