Overview
Rusk State Hospital is accepting submissions for the following positions at our facility: Registered Nurses. Location: - Rusk State Hospital - 805 N Dickinson Dr, Rusk, TX 75785 Open Shifts: (subject to change) - Evenings (1:45p-10:15p) (Preferred) - Days (5:45a-2:15p) - All shifts include a 30 min unpaid lunch break - 40 hours/week - Every other weekend required Minimum qualifications/requirements for all candidates: - Must be licensed by the state of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact for appropriate discipline (RN or LVN/LPN) - Complete immunization record, which meet HHSC requirements - American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification and Heimlich and the ability to perform these techniques correctly and safely according to the specifications of the AHA - Ability to physically be trained on and conduct Treatment Intervention and Preventative Strategies (TIPS), as well as all other HHSC required training - Ability to pass HHSC required fingerprinting - Preferably at least one year experience as a direct care nurse Duties of Registered Nurses: - Conducts comprehensive assessments of patients’ nursing care needs using specialized skills in psychiatric nursing. - Serves as a team leader and provides clinical supervision to other nursing staff members including LVNs and Psychiatric Nursing Assistants (PNA) as necessary. - Observes patient behavior and status and reports to the physician, other team members, and supervisor as appropriate. - Carries out nursing interventions as identified in the multi-disciplinary recovery plan. - Administers medications as ordered and maintains medication administration and controlled drug records according to facility policy. - Serves as group leader for therapeutic patient groups or patient teaching activities as necessary or as requested.
