Overview
Candidates must have psychiatric or correctional nursing experience. The San Antonio State Hospital is accepting submissions for the following positions at our facility: - 15 Registered Nurses - 6:30am-7:00 pm OR 6:30pm-7:00 am Duties of Agency Registered Nurse Performs routine nursing duties. Work involves providing for the assessment, care and treatment of individuals. May train others. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager II. The Unit RN I may assign nursing responsibilities to the Unit LVN in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. The responsibility of the Unit RN is to provide for and supervise the professional nursing care of the individuals who reside in a State Hospital. The Unit RN is available to unit personnel to make nursing decisions on a 24-hour basis. She/he is a member of the professional team and shares responsibility with other team members for the development of the individual’s program. Work involves communication skills, i.e. relaying information to other team members, Primary Care Provider, nurses; data entry, documentation, completing reports, maintaining personnel records, supervisory duties, and following all facility rules/policies, supervising the work of unlicensed nursing staff. Provide treatment to HHS employees injured in course and scope of employment. Job Requirements for all candidates: · Must be licensed RN and able to practice in Texas · Preferably 1+ years as a direct care nurse · Charge nurse or supervisory experience is preferred · Experience needs to be in psychiatric nursing, or nursing in a correctional facility Here is our Timeline for hiring: · Qualified submissions welcome now through 11/28/2022 · Interviews now through 11/28/2022 · Hiring decisions on or before 11/28/2022 · Approximate start date week of 11/21/22 or 11/28/2022 · Minimum 6 month or 1 year contract · All compliance must be met before candidate can start. No exceptions. Other: · Regular rates apply for all positions · No requested time off will be approved at this time (can be discussed) · Must have valid photo ID and current American Heart Association CPR certification · Must have a valid license in Texas or a compact state. · Must have negative PPD results within last 12 months · COVID-19 testing with negative result required (facility provides) · COVID-19 Vaccination card if applicable · Must be able to successfully pass a urine drug screen and background check (Relode provides) · Must be able to successfully pass an FBI fingerprint background check (facility provides)
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN)

- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS)
