Licensed Vocational Nurse

Overview

Candidates must have psychiatric or correctional nursing experience. The San Antonio State Hospital is accepting submissions for the following positions at our facility: - 15 Licensed Vocational Nurse - 6:30am-7:00 pm OR 6:30pm-7:00 am Duties of agency LVN Performs advanced vocational nursing work. Provides for the care, treatment, and general welfare of individuals residing at the San Antonio Hospital who have complex medical, mental health and/or behavioral health issues. Performs basic and advanced routine and non-routine nursing tasks to promote the health of the individuals within the assigned areas and assigned shift. Administers medication to patients. Collects specimens for lab work and performs health screenings. Instructs direct support professionals and other staff on how to provide service and care that support the individual’s medical needs. Performs technical nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations. Keeps informed of and follows all agency, State Hospital policies and procedures. Provides direction and assists with on-the-job training to others such as newly hired LVNs and direct care staff. Provides on-the-job nursing instruction and training for new LVNs, within their scope of practice, as requested by RN Supervisor. Monitors, oversees the work of, and assigns work to, LVNs as needed. Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes and provides input to other members of the healthcare team. Assists RNs with implementation of protocols, procedures and programs to improve overall health and safety of staff and individuals. Works under the limited supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Job Requirements for all candidates: · Must be licensed LVN and able to practice in Texas · Preferably 1+ years as a direct care nurse · Charge nurse or supervisory experience is preferred · Experience needs to be hospital acute care, psychiatric or correctional setting Here is our Timeline for hiring: · Qualified submissions welcome now through 11/28/2022 · Interviews now through 11/28/2022 · Hiring decisions on or before 11/28/2022 · Approximate start date week of 11/21/22 or 11/28/2022 · Minimum 6 month or 1 year contract · All compliance must be met before candidate can start. Qualifications

• Valid Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
• ANY of the following valid licenses/certifications:
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
  • American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS)
