Overview

San Antonio State Hospital Rehab Department is seeking a PART TIME Speech Language Pathologist Location: - San Antonio State Hospital - Texas Health and Human Services Commission - 6711 S. New Braunfels Ave, Suite 100 - San Antonio, TX 78223 Pay Rate: - Negotiable - $40-50/hour Current Open Shifts: - 1 Part time/PRN position available - Minimum of 8 hours/week - Monday-Friday (TBD) - 8:00 - 5:00 pm (includes unpaid lunch break), variable times may be needed on occasion to provide training to night shift staff - Must be able to attend New Employee Orientation for 2 weeks prior to PRN/Part time status. Duties of Speech Language Pathologist: - Swallow evaluations, Speech/Language therapy evaluations, speech therapy treatments and screenings as referred. - Documents services provided in compliance with facility and billing requirements. - Communicates with treatment team and caregivers regarding evaluation findings. Coordinates with staff to ensure speech therapy plan of care and protocols are followed, including creating or providing staff training as necessary. - Coordinate with dietary and food service personnel as needed. - Clinical preparation/cleanup - creates materials for better communication while maintaining a safe environment and disinfecting materials after patient use. Job Requirements for all candidates: - Current Texas Licensure in Speech Language Pathology and Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). - Knowledge or experience working with individuals with severe mental illness preferred. Timeline for hiring: - Interviews ASAP - Hiring decision ASAP - Approximate start date March 1 - Minimum 6-month contract with option to extend to 1 year - All compliance must be met before candidate can start. No exceptions. Other - Must have valid photo ID and current American Heart Association CPR certification - COVID-19 testing with negative result required (we provide) - COVID-19 Vaccination Card if applicable. - Must be able to successfully pass a urine drug screen and background check (Relode provides) - Must be able to successfully pass an FBI fingerprint background check (Facility provides)

Qualifications

Required
  • Bachelor's degree or higher
  • ANY of the following valid licenses/certifications:
    • Speech Language Pathology in Texas (TX)
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) in Texas (TX)
  • Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) in Texas (TX)
  • Are you aware that you will be required to take a Drug Screening Test during your onboarding period?
