Kerrville State Hospital is looking to fill 10 LVN positions - 8 hour, 12 hour, and 16 hour shifts available Address: - 721 Thompson Dr, - Kerrville, TX 78028 Job Requirements for all candidates: - Must be licensed LVN and able to practice in Texas - Preferably 1+ years in a behavioral health setting Here is our Timeline for hiring: - Approximate start date week of 3/16/23 - Minimum 6 month or 1 year contract - All compliance must be met before candidate can start. Other: - No requested time off will be approved at this time (can be discussed) - Must have valid photo ID and current American Heart Association CPR certification - Must have negative PPD results within last 12 months - COVID-19 testing with negative result required (facility provide) - COVID-19 Vaccination card (if applicable) - Must be able to successfully pass a urine drug screen and background check (Relode provides) - Must be able to successfully pass an FBI fingerprint background check (facility provides) Description: Performs advanced vocational nursing work. Provides for the care, treatment, and general welfare of individuals residing at the Kerrville State Hospital maximum security unit who have complex medical, mental health and/or behavioral health issues. Performs basic and advanced routine and non-routine nursing tasks to promote the health of the individuals within the assigned areas and assigned shift. Collects specimens for lab work and performs health screenings. Instructs direct support professionals and other staff on how to provide service and care that support the individual's medical needs. Performs technical nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations. Keeps informed of and follows all agency policies and procedures. Provides direction and assists with on-the-job training to others such as newly hired LVNs and direct care staff. Provides on-the-job nursing instruction and training for new LVNs, within their scope of practice, as requested by RN Supervisor. Monitors, oversees the work of, and assigns work to, psychiatric nursing assistants as needed. Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes and provides input to other members of the healthcare team. Assists RNs with implementation of protocols, procedures, and programs to improve overall health and safety of staff and individuals. Works under the limited supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
