Kerrville State Hospital is accepting applications for Registered Nurses (maximum security area) - 13 positions are available Address: 721 Thompson Dr, Kerrville, TX 78028 Duties of Agency Registered Nurse (8 hour, 16 hour, and 12 hour shifts available) Job Requirements for all candidates: - Must be licensed RN and able to practice in Texas - Preferably 1+ years nursing experience in a behavioral health setting - Charge nurse or supervisory experience is preferred Timeline for hiring: - Approximate start date week of 5/1/23, 5/16/23, 6/1/23, 6/16/23, 7/3/23, 7/17/23, . - Minimum 6 month or 1 year contract - All compliance must be met before candidate can start. No exceptions Other: - No requested time off will be approved at this time (can be discussed) - Must have valid photo ID and current American Heart Association CPR certification - Must have negative PPD results within last 12 months - COVID-19 testing with negative result required (we provide) - Must be able to successfully pass a urine drug screen and background check (Relode provides) - Must be able to successfully pass an FBI fingerprint background check (Facility provides) Day to Day Expectation: Performs routine nursing duties. Work involves providing for the assessment, care and treatment of individuals in a state hospital maximum security unit. May train others. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager III. The Unit RN may assign nursing responsibilities to the Unit LVN in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. The responsibility of the Unit RN is to provide for and supervise the professional nursing care of the individuals who reside in a state hospital maximum security unit. The Unit RN is available to unit personnel to make nursing decisions on a 24-hour basis. She/he is a member of the professional team and shares responsibility with other team members for the development of the individual's program. Work involves communication skills, i.e. relaying information to other team members, Primary Care Provider, nurses; data entry, documentation, completing reports, maintaining personnel records, supervisory duties, and following all facility rules/policies. Provide treatment to HHS employees injured in course and scope of employment.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) in Texas (TX)
- Do you have 1+ years experience as a direct care nurse?
- Do you have 1+ years of psychiatric nursing experience?
- Are you comfortable working in a maximum security unit?
