Under the general direction of the Acute Care Director, the Registered Nurse in the Medical/Surgical Unit is responsible for professional nursing care delivered to patients experiencing acute illnesses requiring admission to the Unit, including assessment and planning for individualized patient care, communication with physicians about changes in patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies, quick response to changes in condition or response to treatment, and participation in performance improvement activities.
