Overview
Phlebotomist duties and responsibilities *Preparing patients before drawing blood *Explaining blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the process *Following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas *Gathering medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags and test tubes *Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly *Accurately updating patient information in the organization’s database *Helping nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draws *Working with supervising Physicians and following their directions at all times Phlebotomist skills and qualifications *Professional certification in phlebotomy from a recognized program *Must have at least 1 year experience as a Phlebotomist *Ability to successfully draw blood from patients with minimal or no complications *Empathy and interpersonal skills for working with patients *Detail-oriented and committed to ensuring patient confidentiality *Excellent motor skills and the ability to stand for long periods of time *Advanced written and verbal communication skills *Data entry and computer skills *Strong attention to detail 1 @ Ellis Unit – 8 Weeks • Shift time – 0500-1330 • Schedule - M-F would be preferable, but this unit needs at least three days a week (M-W-F). • Orientation will be OJT. They will orient at the Holliday & Ellis Unit. • Must have at least 1 yr. recent experience. They will be expected to work independently. • Typical day and average # of draws, type of labs: Draws usually average about 35-40 daily. The inmates come to the clinic for draws with the exception of the youth inmates. We have to go to their living area to draw in a triage room we have available. Typical labs are CBD w/dif, HIV Viral load, CD4, CMP, HgA1C, HBV, HCV, PSA, PT/PTT, TSH, UA, Albumin, FIT test, lipids. Qualifications
- Valid American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)

- Clinical Documentation
- Data Entry
- Valid Certified Phlebotomist Technologist/Technician (CPT)
- Do you have High School Diploma or Transcript, Physical, Flu, MMR, Varicella, T-Dap, HepB, TB, Covid Vaccine or Exemption
