Overview
Our client is seeking a Registered Nurse for their Acute Psychiatric Unit APU in Coos Bay, OR. The ideal candidate will apply the nursing process to patient care, collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, and create a safe therapeutic environment. This role requires critical thinking, effective communication, and the ability to adapt to changing patient needs. Key Responsibilities ● Applies the nursing process to the care of patients ● Teaches patients and significant others ● Documents patient care in the medical record ● Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to effectively coordinate overall care of the patient ● Creates safe therapeutic milieu on the unit ● Attends group activities, observes patient interaction; participates as requested by group leader ● Participates in treatment team meetings ● If appropriately credentialed, performs duties of Qualified Mental Health Professional as assigned ● Able to read, write legibly, and converse effectively in the English language ● Exhibits critical thinking and problem-solving skills ● Flexible, able to prioritize and adapt to rapidly-changing patient and unit needs ● Demonstrates effective teaching skills ● Responds effectively to patient crisis/emergency situations ● Proficient in use of computer, including accessing internet, word processing, and documenting in an electronic medical record system ● Maintains regular, consistent and punctual attendance at the assigned job location Schedule and Shift Details ● Day Shift 12-36 // 72 per two-week pay period
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Acute Care (5+ years)

ANY of the following valid licenses/certifications:
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS)
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA ACLS)
- American Red Cross Basic Life Support (ARC BLS)
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) in Oregon (OR)
- Valid National Certification in BH
- Valid SAFE class or organization approved workplace violence training.
