Hospice Music Therapist

Overview

Our client is seeking a compassionate Hospice Music Therapist to provide professional music therapy to patients in accordance with company protocols. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Music Therapy degree, current Board certification, and relevant experience in geriatric and end-of-life/terminal illness healthcare. Key Responsibilities ● Provide consistent professional music therapy in accordance with company protocols and accepted certification practices ● Effectively inform and educate our patients, staff, and facility partners about music therapy ● Establish therapy objectives as part of the patient assessment ● Plan, review, and assess therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and to aid in the planning of subsequent sessions ● Take an active role in sessions by playing instruments, singing, and listening ● Encourage patients to take part in the session and support them by responding musically and improvising with music as a reaction to what the client is communicating to give comfort during the last stages of life ● Support the patient's creative development and facilitate positive changes in their behavior and well-being Schedule and Shift Details ● Work schedule and shift expectations will be provided during the interview process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher
• 6+ years of experience in ANY of the following:
  • Geriatric Care
  • Senior Care
  • Geriatric/LTC
• 6+ years of experience in ANY of the following:
  • Hospice
  • Healthcare
  • Palliative Care
• Valid MT-BC
• Valid Music Therapy in Michigan (MI)
