Hospice Medical Director – Virginia Lead and Help Shape a Growing Hospice Program An established and growing healthcare organization is seeking an experienced physician to serve as a Hospice Medical Director supporting a significant and expanding service area across Virginia. This is an opportunity for a physician with meaningful hospice experience who wants to have a real voice in the direction of a program. The organization is looking for someone who can confidently step into a leadership role, provide strong clinical guidance, and bring both a patient-centered and business-minded approach to hospice care. The ideal physician understands that great hospice care requires more than clinical expertise. You will work closely with organizational and clinical leadership, help guide the delivery of care, support quality and compliance initiatives, and serve as an important physician leader as the organization continues to grow. The Opportunity This role offers the opportunity to: Serve as a key physician leader within an established hospice organization. Help oversee and support hospice operations across a broad region of Virginia. Provide clinical leadership and guidance to interdisciplinary teams. Participate in key medical and clinical decisions related to hospice care. Support quality, compliance, and appropriate patient care. Work alongside organizational leadership as the hospice program continues to grow. Bring a strategic and business-minded perspective to the role. Have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the direction of the program. The organization is open to discussing either W-2 or 1099 arrangements, depending on the physician and the structure that makes the most sense for both parties. What We Are Looking For We are seeking a physician who brings: Significant experience in hospice and/or palliative care. A strong understanding of the hospice industry and regulatory environment. Physician leadership experience or the ability to confidently step into a leadership role. The ability to work collaboratively with clinical and executive leadership. Strong communication and decision-making skills. A patient-centered approach combined with sound business judgment. Familiarity with the Virginia healthcare market is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be comfortable taking ownership of a region, building relationships with the clinical teams they support, and becoming a trusted physician leader within the organization.
