Palliative Care Nurse Practitioner

Overview

"Must Have" Skills for this Job: 1. Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program. BSN and MSN required. 2. Current RN and APRN License in the State of Texas. 3. Certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner ACNP is REQUIRED. 4. Certification in Palliative Care/Hospice preferred. 5. Current American Heart Association BLS provider. 6. Current American Heart Association ACLS provider 7. Minimum 2 years as Nurse Practitioner is required. 8. Oncology nursing experience preferred. About this Job: Provides services in palliative care, symptom management and supportive care for seriously ill, hospitalized patients and their families. Utilizes the nursing process based on an expanded knowledge base of pathophysiology and pharmacology to assist with comprehensive health care assessments, diagnosis, treatments, and management of acute and chronic health conditions. Clinical decisions are formulated in consultation and collaboration with attending physicians. As an advanced practice nurse, the Palliative Care/Geriatric Nurse Practioner is additionally involved in education, consultation and research at various levels.
