Overview

The Attending Anesthesiologist will administer anesthetics to render patients insensitive to pain during surgical and other medical procedures. Examine patient to determine degree of surgical risk and type of anesthetic, and sedation to administer, and discusses findings with medical practitioner concerned with the case. Record type and amount of anesthetic and sedation administered and condition of the patient before, during and after anesthesia. The Anesthesiologist will also provide consultative, resuscitative and therapeutic services to patients in shock, respiratory insufficiency, acute or chronic pain. Schedule: - Ongoing position starting in March - Cardiac/transplant providers: Every 3-4th day cardiac call. On average, 8 calls per month. - All 1st calls-beeper call. Not in house. On call until 7 am the next day. - Cases include cardiac, spine, neuro, ortho, vascular, ENT, etc. Duties and Responsibilities: - Evaluate patients to formulate an adequate anesthetic plan. - Manage and administer anesthesia during surgical procedures. - Record patient medical history and anesthetic amounts. - Monitor, manage, and treat changes in patient functions during operations, including breathing, heart rate, and blood pressure. - Monitor conditions of patients before, during, and after anesthesia to look out for adverse reactions. - Coordinate and direct a team of nurses, medical technicians, and other healthcare professionals. - Order x-rays, laboratory tests, and other necessary diagnostic procedures. - Collaborate and communicate with other medical professionals to determine care plans and provide high-quality patient care. - Conduct research to make advancements in the field of anesthesiology. Requirements and Qualifications: - Certification from the American Board of Anesthesiology is required - Active license in the state of Florida is required - DEA, ACLS, PALS and BLS are required - Case logs required - Must be peds capable - 1+ years of experience in an anesthesiologist role is preferred - Case logs required
