Job Description: The Patient Care Director is responsible for the 24 hour management of the NICU department. Develops patient care services goals, objectives, standards of performance, policies and procedures; organizes the department in accordance with the hospital's mission and vision statements in order to provide specified nursing services to meet the legal, organizational, and medical staff guidelines. Evaluates proposed procedural changes as they relate to patient care, directs / supervises the implementation, and ensures compliance with Standards of Nursing Practice that promote optimum health care delivery. Required skills & experience: - BSN Required, MSN Preferred - Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Virginia Department of Health Professions or Compact License required - BLS Certification required - Minimum 3 years experience of demonstrated Nursing Leadership required Things to know: - Guide nursing practice in accordance with the mission statement and philosophy of Patient Care Services at facility - Act as a role model for staff and colleagues. - Mentor staff to achieve full potential, to include Assistant Patient Care Director's development - Develops, monitors, evaluates, and documents Continuous Quality Improvement activities in accordance with hospital, state, and The Joint Commission standards. - Implements change according to results in coordination with appropriate leadership - Plans and facilitates trainings or programs to meet the educational needs of staff, including orientation, in-services, or education requirements - Demonstrates knowledge of financial management, by planning, preparing and achieving annual budget goals - Interpret overall philosophy and objectives of nursing service to staff. - Supervise and manage staff guided by patient care services policy and procedure, and specialty standards - Monitor, and evaluate quality standards of nursing practice within the specific nursing Unit
