Vascular Ultrasound Tech

Overview

Required skills & experience (the “must haves” to be considered) - High School Diploma or GED/ trade or vocational school in vascular ultrasound (required) - Minimum two year’s experience in vascular ultrasound procedures. -Registered Vascular Specialist (required), ARDMS (RVT) strongly preferred. What You Need to Know - Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify and record appropriate anatomical, pathological, and diagnostic images. - Performs ABI s (with and without exercise), carotid duplex scans, lower and upper extremity arterial scans, abdominal aorta duplex imaging, lower and upper extremity venous scans, and groin studies. - Recognizes the significance of all structures visualized on the monitor and is able to differentiate normal from abnormal and recognize artifacts. Understands when to seek advice. - Maintains and documents emergent findings, when appropriate, and communicates these to physician. - Participates in preparation and presentation of quarterly QA meetings. - Assists with the laboratory accreditation process via ICAVL. - Assists in the evaluation of new products and equipment for the lab and in research, development and formulation of new techniques for the cardiovascular ultrasound laboratory.
