Job title: Psychiatrist Adult Inpatient Qualifications: Can be Board Certified or Board Eligible Must have DEA Must have Maryland medical license Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-4pm Weekend call not mandatory but preferred: Weekend call will be limited if required at all. It will involve in-house rounds, which requires covering up to 28 inpatients and discussing psych ED disposition plans by phone. Saturday 8:00am-Monday 7:59am. Responsibilities: Coverage of a 12-bed inpatient unit in general Adult Psychiatry he diagnostic range includes primary affective and psychotic disorders; most common dxs are schizophrenia and major depressive disorder Approximately 65% of our inpatients have co-morbid substance use disorders (so having the ability to prescribe Suboxone upon discharge is a plus but not mandatory) Patients are generally between 18 and 65 yrs old Goal average length of stay for the unit is 6 days Patient evaluation & documentation includes admission H&Ps, daily progress notes, discharge summaries. Other clinical expectations include family meetings, involuntary commitment hearings when applicable, clinical review panels when applicable. Cross-coverage for colleagues on vacation is required (responsibilities generally split between remaining providers)
