Overview
Required Skills and Experience 1. Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited academic program required. Graduate degree preferred. 2. Must be licensed in the State of Indiana as a Physical Therapist (PT) 3. Minimum 5 years of experience with a well-established clinical background in a variety of diagnoses and the related/resulting disorders. Clinical certification in area of expertise a benefit. 4. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written are required. Must be able to adjust of varying treatment loads and schedules. What You Need to Know - Knows and adheres to all laws and regulations pertaining to patient health, safety, medical information. Complies with regulatory agency (Medicare, JCAHO, CARF etc.) standards and regulations. - Conduct evaluations consistent with and appropriate for patient diagnosis. Designs a treatment plan that is goal oriented, based upon interpretation of evaluation results and patient’s personal goals. Establishes goals that are functional, measurable and attainable. Performs re-evaluations per department criteria with modifications/updating of goals as dictated by patient’s progress. - Assists patient towards goal achievement through effective treatment plan and interventions. Administers individual treatment procedures. Develops home exercises and self-treatment plans for the patient. Provides education to patient and family, including diagnosis and prognosis of therapy. Recognizes adverse responses or contradictions to therapy and adjust treatment accordingly. - Makes timely and appropriate discharge plans and recommendations for the anticipated needs of the patient. - Provides direction to Physical Therapy Assistants by delegating appropriate patients, reviewing plan of care and providing clinical support as necessary. Provides day-to-day direction to rehab techs and volunteers. - Willingly accepts student interns. Participates in student program as appropriate and based on level of experience and expertise. - Requires flexible work schedule including weekends.
