MUST-HAVES/WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: • Master's Degree in Nursing with clinical application of a CNS role component or Master's preparation with a post-master's certificate within 3 years of date of hire • Minimum of 3 years continuous, recent clinical experience and clinical knowledge in specialty area • 5 years experience in advanced practice nursing leadership, desired • CNS Advanced Practice Certification, desired JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide expert, specialty consultation to patients, staff, and physicians. • Collaborate with nursing and physicians on identifying and prioritizing nursing care needs for complex patients. • Coordinate care of patients across settings through collaboration with applicable departments. • Improve quality of nursing care by managing change and empowering others to influence clinical practice and political processes both within and across systems. • Promote research through utilization of systematic inquiry in the interpretation, translation, and use of evidence to evaluate and improve clinical practice; participates in conduct of research. • Provide mentoring and guidance to advance patient care and nursing practice. • Identify, articulate, and take action on ethical concerns at all levels. POSITION SUMMARY: • The Clinical Nurse Specialist is an advanced practice nurse with master's or doctoral level preparation and expert knowledge in area of specialty. • The CNS improves patient care using 3 spheres of influence: patients, nurses and nursing practice, and organizations and systems. • The CNS is a clinical expert in evidence-based practice within a specialty area. • The CNS influences outcomes by support of nurses in the delivery of high quality, safe, evidence-based care.
