Medical Laboratory Technician

Overview

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/MUST-HAVES: • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Medical Technology or related field with certification from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent certification • MUST HAVE MLT Certification • Ability to assist Patient Care staff with Phlebotomy • The Medical Technologist/MLT performs phlebotomy and laboratory testing. NICE-TO-HAVES/PREFERRED: • Prefer 6-months - 1-Yr of experience • Has knowledge of the clinical significance of results, monitors and understands operation of instrumentation, and reports results accurately and rapidly. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Creates a caring and healing environment that keeps the patient and family at the center of care • Practices established safety procedures, including Universal Precautions and proper use of safety equipment. • Performs non-technical tasks and indirect patient care activities as required by the situation. • Provides patient and family education relative to phlebotomy and expectations related to the process.
