Overview
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • High School Diploma or GED (Preferred) • 4-year college degree (Strongly Preferred) REQUIRED LICENSURE(S)/CERTIFICATIONS: • DOT hazardous materials training and certificate MUST-HAVES/WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: • 7-year experience in hospital environmental service management • Knowledge of medical waste management • DOT hazardous materials training and certificate • Through knowledge of environmental and occupational health and safety rules, regulations and practices to include but not limited to Joint Commission. • Application of comprehensive knowledge of solid waste collection, disposal, recycling, hazardous waste, regulated medical waste, and laws regulating each. • Application of considerable knowledge of administrative, budgetary, personnel management, standard fiscal administration policies, marketing, and contract management, methods practices and controls. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Determines the quantity and quality of cleaning chemicals paper products and linen needs • Ensures conformance to regulations governing proper cleaning and sanitation of the hospital environment • Responsible for establishing and enforcement of Medical Waste Management Plan that is in compliance with State Health Code regulations • Develops cleaning procedures that will insure Client's complex is maintained in a high state of cleanliness and sanitation at all times • Responsible for review and negotiations of linen cleaning contract that keeps the interest of Client's first and foremost at all times • Responsible for developing a comprehensive ongoing training program that insures staff is and remains competent in their positions • Establish and maintain emergency linen and paper and chemical cleaning supply items for use in the event of a disaster POSITION SUMMARY: • Under the direction of the CEO, the department director coordinates guides and is fully accountable for all departmental activities to support hospital wide strategic objectives. • Develops and implements departmental goals and objectives with input from staff members • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services • Interacts with all customers to ensure prompt and accurate communication as needed to provide the service expected and to meet the goals of the service • Evaluates problems, and develops and implements solutions • Develops new ideas and/or systems with innovation and creativity
