Overview
Required skills & experience (the “must haves” to be considered): -Current professional nursing licensure in the state of IL required -Graduate of a NLN accredited school of nursing required; BSN strongly preferred -BLS/CPR Certification for the Healthcare Provider required -ACLS preferred -One year of ICU experience required -Knowledge/experience in multimodal pain management, medications/side effect profiles and interactions. -Knowledge/experience with low dose Ketamine infusions. -Knowledge/experience with Peripheral Nerve Blocks/Catheters, Epidural catheters, PCA’s and spinal cord stimulators, Peripheral nerve stimulators and collaboration with pain MD and patient. -Knowledge/experience with pain procedures (ie). LESI, Trigger Point injections, and coordination of them, assist MD as needed. -Data Entry with Microsoft Excel/Access. What you need to know: -Initiate pain consults ordered, while adjusting plan of care, with a follow up plan of care for pain management and evaluate outcomes in collaboration with pain MD for our acute and chronic pain population. -Independently provide safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care and pain management for the post op patient population under the supervision of pain attendings. -Utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care when on consult. -Educate patient and family on safe and effective doses of opioids and weaning process once discharged. -Communicate and collaborate with nurses, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care utilizing multimodal pain management. -Resource for multidisciplinary teams as related to the individualized pain plan.
