Overview
PURPOSE STATEMENT: Report to executive leadership and oversee the nursing function/department for an acute care facility. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Plan, direct and coordinate nursing services. Direct, supervise and evaluate work activities of all nursing personnel. Provide clinical leadership, strategic and long term goals for the nursing staff. Determine, assign and assess performance objectives for nursing department. Organize, coordinate, develop and review policies, procedures and nursing protocols to meet all regulatory, compliance and quality care standards. Responsible for the quality of care, operational and financial efficiency of the nursing department. Lead and develop the nursing staff within the facility, providing performance goals, feedback and development opportunities. Develop and oversee function/departmental budget and reporting. Direct and conduct recruitment, hiring and training of personnel. Provide direct care as needed. OTHER FUNCTIONS: Perform other functions and tasks as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Master's degree required. Six or more years nursing experience, previous experience with the population of the facility preferred; with Five or more years nursing management or administrative experience. LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS: Current RN license within the state where facility is providing service. First Aid, CPR, de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
