Grossing Technologist (Histology)

Overview

Required skills & experience: * Bachelor's Degree in a biological, chemical or clinical laboratory sciences or medical technology from an accredited institution * Minimum two years' experience in related high complexity testing preferred * Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to management multiple priorities * Excellent attention to detail * Ability to work in a team environment * Willingness to maintain confidential information What you need to know: * Assists the anatomic pathologist in performing gross dissection of surgical specimens and biopsies. * Performs daily activities associated with accessioning, grossing and routine processing of tissues received from surgical procedures. * Ensures proper accessioning and labeling of tissue samples * Processes paperwork associated with accessioning and reporting * Prepares reagents for tissue processing and routine slide staining * Performs gross evaluation of biopsy and surgical specimens, followed by the appropriate dissections and description of findings * Works closely with Pathologists and Departmental Supervisor to develop and maintain grossing procedures * Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment
