Overview
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Perform full design of electrical and power systems for new construction projects and existing facility upgrades while working under the oversight of a licensed engineer Work with engineers or management to produce construction drawings and BIM models, and supporting other divisions of the company as determined by management Converse with engineering and design staff to determine optimum design for Lee Company and customers; produce drawings and models on computer as required Locate files relating to specified design project within database library and load into computer Enter required commands into computer, retrieve design information from files, and complete design on CAD equipment to generate drawings or model as required Use design or sizing software as required to generate drawings or model Review design narrative and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions and performance of design Provide on drawings specified information to produce graphic representation of design for review and approval by engineering and design staff Enter specified information into computer to generate computer file of approved design Make decisions on design for both integrity of the design, cost, and constructability and fabrication of the project Work with other team members to complete design, drawings, and models as required Maintain training and continued education for incumbent and team to continually improve accuracy and productivity Act as Team Leader, when needed, to coordinate both design and coordination efforts for projects between other designers/coordinators with engineers and management Provide input to management regarding both hardware and software requirements to perform duties Responsible for preparing construction documents and specifications Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings Act as the technical authority, consistently moving projects toward successful completion often while leading internal teams Thoroughly understand and design with consideration to all relevant codes and standards Assist internal sales and vertical market teams in preparing proposals for design and construction of projects by various support functions such as: drawing review, site review, perform load calculations, initial equipment selections, design clarifications, codes research, systems analysis, energy audits and problem solving Perform REVIT and/or AutoCAD drafting assignments Prepare lighting photometric calculation Perform electrical load calculation Perform evaluations of facility electrical systems and develop narratives for owner solutions Must be able to handle stress and job demands Must be able to cooperatively work with others Education and Experience Minimum of an associates degree in technical drawing or related field, or a minimum of 4 years of related trade experience Industry experience preferred. Individuals may be exposed to cramped workspaces, contaminants, extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions, exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
