Qualifications · Must show knowledge of mobile C-Arm · Ability to cooperate and work with others · Ability to make accurate and intelligent observations · Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current trends in Interventional Radiology (via communication with other staff, review of current periodicals, etc.) · Must have a “can-do” attitude, show initiative and willingness to adapt to change; must maintain a neat, professional appearance; be able to handle stressful situations. Educational Requirements · Must possess a current x-ray license or certificate issued by the State. · Registered with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists · Two (2) years of experience in health care setting preferred. · Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support Basic Function and Responsibility Responsible for explaining the X-ray procedure to the patients, preparing the patients for the procedure and positioning them for the best possible outcome. Additionally, the x-ray Technologist is responsible for operating the C-Arm, keeping patient exposure and implant records. Archival of images from procedures. X-ray techs must observe proper safety procedures to avoid unnecessary exposure to harmful radiation to themselves as well as the patient. Organization · Verbalizes mission, goals, and strategic plan for the organization · Verbalizes understanding of roles and responsibilities of : (1) Supervisor (2) Committee Chairs/ Members (3) Medical Director · Participates in all assigned committee meetings and projects. General Guidelines for all Clinical and Administrative Personnel · Must familiarize self and adhere to, JOINT COMMISSION Guidelines, and internal policies for delivery of care · Supervise and participate in team functioning · Leads by example · Must be able to delegate appropriately and follow-up on all delegated tasks · Ensure that the patient and family are involved in all care and fosters patient/family autonomy; assesses if patient expectations are being met. · Ensure that proper procedures are followed for reporting patient and staff injuries (e.g., fall, eye splash, needle stick) Infection Control · Must refer to and implement all aspects of the Infection Control Policy as applicable. Team Work · Possess ability to communicate and use effective interpersonal skills with colleagues and other members of the team · Fosters a positive work environment/attitude and encourages team work · Must be able to adhere to and practice consistent with patient and staff rights and responsibilities · Must provide customer satisfaction oriented environment for both patients, families, and other customers · Must possess strong time management skills · Must practice within basic scope of practice for their position · Must be able to ensure a safe environment for patients/families/ staff, identifying health & safety risks & take appropriate and immediate steps to alleviate the risk · Assist in the orientation of new personnel as assigned by appropriate staff member Telephone Courtesy & Customer Service · Correctly and politely answers the telephone and transfers calls appropriately. · Demonstrates understanding of a verbal order taken by telephone, appropriate documentation per policy. · Will address every patient with respect and dignity, at all times. Core Skill Requirements for the X-Ray Technologist: · Able to identify and utilize modern equipment/instruments, and radiographic equipment per policy and accreditation agency standards. · Operate mobile C-Arm · Archive images from studies performed · Possess knowledge of anatomy/physiology. · Must ensure proper functioning of equipment prior to any procedures; will prepare / sterilize instruments according to policies. Perform daily check on equipment. Log problems and usage; alert supervisor as appropriate. · Will maintain a safe physical environment for the patient; maintains patient safety by acting as patient advocate. · Demonstrates knowledge of two patient identifiers and marking procedures · Plans for care needs based on age and size of the patient, of all age/developmental stage patient populations. · Review medical record for patient history and supporting clinical data. Explain procedure to patient; provide patient support and comfort. · Has knowledge of all required pre-operative documentation and assures completion of such. · Room Turnover to include all necessary steps for IC in procedure room. · Order and maintain supplies. Can collaborate with other health care team members regarding special equipment and / or supply needs. · Is prepared for and can demonstrate ability to respond to potential emergent situations. Organize daily work schedule and respond to emergencies as they occur · Participate in continuing education · Assists in general office work · Perform related duties as assigned. Patient Care · Must be able to identify sensory deficits present and take any corrective action necessary. · Must possess keen assessment skills, and the ability to assess physiological health status · Prepares supplies needed during exam/ procedure Recognizing Abuse and Neglect · Understands role in identifying high risk families or situations; can verbalize signs/symptoms of physical, sexual, mental, medical, or emotional abuse for children, spouses, and/or vulnerable adults. Takes appropriate and mandatory actions if abuse is suspected. · Notifies physician if family is high risk or signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect are present, reported, or observed Patient Education · Assess the patient learning needs. · Recognizes and assists patients and families with additional educational needs. Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of: · Patient Advocacy · Maintaining patient confidentiality and security · Attends annual BCLS courses, OSHA training, HIPAA training and all other required in-services · Attends and participates in all meetings as applicable or required. · Integration and coordination of care across settings and among disciplines · Is proficient with computers · Is proficient with all office equipment applicable to position, i.e. phones, copier, postage machine, scanner, fax machine · Typical Physical Demands: Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required. Employee will work under stressful conditions, and work irregular hours. Employee will be considered an “exposed” employee according to OSHA standards. Safety and Emergency Preparedness Describes safety plan and knows location of evacuation meeting place, describes staff as well as personal role; understands the HAZCOM program and use/location of MSDS books. Exhibits ability to recognize and respond to potential emergent situations.
