About Role We are looking for a Senior Staff Process Engineer to join our Engineering team and design the system that nourishes our plants, providing them with the nutrients and fluids they need to thrive. In this role you will be designing large scale fluid recirculation, dosing and treatment systems that are central to the success of our crops. The nutrient system is both a core area of innovation and the critical operational system for us, enabling our produce to achieve global reach and an accessible price point. You will be joining a passionate and dynamic team that is developing new technology from the ground up. What You'll Do • Architect, design and implement nutrient systems for our farms • Design water treatment and filtration systems • Design dosing and monitoring systems • Create specifications and work with equipment suppliers to deliver optimized, application specific equipment • Collaborate with the Our Plant Science team to define nutrient system needs from the perspective of crop optimization for flavor and yield • Collaborate with other internal equipment designers to design filtration and treatment equipment to support needs throughout the farm • Partner with members of the Operations Team to define control strategies, process control points and alerting for the nutrient system • Partner with in-house mechanical designers to define nutrient system distribution • Partner with in-house construction and deployment teams during the installation and commissioning process What We're Looking For • Expertise in the design of treatment systems, filters, vessels, dosing systems and other fluid/chemical process equipment • Expertise in pump selection and piping design • Experience across a range of projects and preferably a range of industries. Experience in any of the following industries is a plus: ○ Agriculture ○ Pharmaceutical ○ Oil and gas ○ Chemical ○ Water treatment ○ Food and beverage • Track record of successful system design and implementation in scaled operational environments • Experience working in 3D building models; experience with Catia is a plus • Experience mentoring engineers • Experience working as the technical lead on a range of projects • Experience working as the project lead (project engineer / project manager) on some projects is a plus • Experience with plumbing and building codes and applicable NFPA knowledge in various local and international jurisdictions is a plus • Exceptionally collaborative approach with strong communication skills • 12+ years of applicable experience desired • B.S. or higher (M.S. / Ph.D.) in Chemical Engineering (or similar engineering field) Food Safety Requirement • Comply with all Plant, State and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations. • Make sure Equipment design is of a material suitable for food safety and designed in a way that is smooth and easily cleanable.
